Democracy Must Reign

Are you fed up with the American press? I'm tired of their one-sided news coverage of Biden's lousy debate. As each day goes by, I'm more convinced the media WANTS the previous president to win this year.

Remember the 2016 election? As a news hound, I visit lots of news sites every day. In 2015 and 2016, the media constantly headlined the orange guy. Every single one. And oh, yeah, what about Hillary's emails? Did they report on Secretary Clinton's accomplishments? What a fantastic leader she would be? No, they didn't. The press and FBI Director James B. Comey sabotaged Secretary Clinton from the outset. The media wanted the 45th president to win, which we all know he did. Not the popular vote, but because of the electoral college.

Fast forward to the 2024 race. The press doesn't seem to care how outlandish the former POTUS is in his speeches. President Biden is right to call his predecessor a liar because he is. Granted, President Biden didn't do well at the debate. However, Donald Trump lied about so many things, including the claim that abortion kills live babies. What an outrageous statement, one of thousands.

In 2023, Senator Mitch McConnell froze at the microphone, not once, but twice. Instead of the press and Republicans calling for McConnell's resignation because of his age, they rallied behind the now 82-year-old senator. Why didn't the press demand his resignation like they did Biden? Why doesn't the press say that McConnell is too old? The free press in this country leans Republican, no matter how outlandish the MAGA crowd becomes. You can read more about McConnell and his freezing on Politico's website.

So why is President Biden's age such a big deal? I watched his rallies and interviews. Sure, he looked a bit frail, but he was lucid.

Donald Trump is showing signs of dementia (some would say a raging lunatic). Did you hear or read about some of the things he's said? No? The website Constitution US has a lengthy list of awful Trump quotes. Oh, and let's never forget his shark comments that The Atlantic published.

Since I started writing this, President Biden withdrew from the race and named Vice President Kamala Harris his successor. I'm sad Biden stopped his campaign. President Biden is a great president who puts the people before anything else. He worked with Congress to pass some excellent legislation for working Americans. He is a true patriot.

In 2019, when Vice President Kamala Harris announced her run for POTUS, I jumped on her bandwagon immediately. After watching her in the Senate and watching her epic takedowns of so many before her committee, including Jeff Sessions, William Barr, and Brett Kavanaugh, I was impressed. YouTube also has a compilation of who Senator Harris questioned. I felt that Harris would make a fantastic president. I was sad to see Senator Harris end her first run for president and thrilled when President Biden selected her as his running mate.

I am once again supporting Kamala Harris. She'll be a terrific president. I hope you will join me in voting blue this year. We cannot let the former guy retake the White House. Our democracy depends on Vice President Harris winning. This op-ed from Secretary Hillary Clinton says it all.
